Gallium is building the first AI-native operating system for marketing. The platform combines specialized AI models with human content engineers to help companies own their category narrative across LinkedIn, X, SEO, and AI Search.

Gallium believes that the companies that win will be the ones who own the narrative of their category consistently and at scale.

Delivering on that vision required an engineering team with the technical depth to build AI systems in production and the ability to move at the pace an early-stage startup demanded.

The Problem

The early-stage hiring problem

Early-stage companies do not have the luxury of a talent team, a structured recruiting process, or a track record that sells itself to candidates. What they have is a founder, a vision, and a finite amount of time to act on both.

For Jaisal, Co-Founder of Gallium, the challenge of hiring was pulling him away from the valuable work that only a founder can do. Every hour spent writing job descriptions, reviewing applications, scheduling calls, and managing candidate pipelines was an hour not spent on the product, customers, or the company strategy.

At an early-stage startup, a wrong hire would not just slow the company down. It could ripple into long-term product and culture setbacks that take years to recover from.

Beyond the sourcing challenge, there was a harder problem: convincing exceptional engineers to take an early bet on Gallium. Doing so requires preparation, conviction, and expertise in how to position the opportunity compellingly.

The Solution

A strategic recruiting partner

Contrario brought more than sourcing capability. Most seed-stage founders know what they need in a general sense, but translating that into a precise hiring strategy can be difficult to articulate. Contrario worked closely with the Gallium team to define what the engineering function actually needed: what roles should be called, what their scope should cover, what skills to look for, and what the hiring roadmap should look like in the future.

From there, Contrario built a sourcing profile around the qualities that would determine success for Gallium. Recruiters on Contrario drew from their network of engineers across LATAM. Each recruiter understood how to pitch Gallium and worked with candidates who were already interested and aligned before they ever spoke with the founders. This allowed interviews to be a genuine assessment of fit rather than a cold pitch.

"Our favorite thing about Contrario for hiring is the speed with which you work. You can send great candidates faster than anyone else we have worked with. This was one of the biggest reasons we ended up hiring all of them through Contrario."

— Jaisal Kothari, Co-Founder, Gallium

The impact

Setting the standard

Gallium's entire engineering team was hired through Contrario in fifteen days. The speed was significant. What proved equally valuable over time was the character and caliber of the hires themselves.

The engineers Contrario placed brought exactly the ownership instinct that Jaisal and Akshat had been looking for. Carlos Eduardo Libardo, Founding AI Engineer, had already built two companies before joining Gallium. Marcos Gritti, Founding ML Engineer, was a former professor with 10 years of research experience. Vinicius Brown, Founding Software Engineer, shipped a two-month roadmap in his first twelve days. Jose Thomaz, Founding Data Engineer, rewrote a data pipeline that nobody wanted to touch, over a single weekend, with zero downtime.

With the caliber of the team, Jaisal has been able to step back substantially. The engineers make decisions independently, sustain momentum on their own, and are not constrained by his bandwidth.

"The biggest standout for the candidates has been ownership. Over time I have had to be increasingly less involved because the team is capable of making their own decisions and continuing to move forward. They are not limited by my own pace or my biases."

— Jaisal Kothari, Co-Founder, Gallium

For a founder whose time is the company's most constrained resource, you need a team that accelerates the work that you are doing.

The first engineers a company hires set the pace, the culture, and the ceiling for what the team can become. Contrario will continue to partner with Gallium as it scales, placing the people who allow the founders to stay focused on what only they can do.
