The Problem

Too much volume, not enough signal

By Series B, Listen Labs had the hiring infrastructure most growing companies aspire to have: an internal talent team, recruiting tools, and established processes. The problem was not a lack of tools or applications. It was that the inbound volume was becoming unmanageable. 

The talent team was spending a disproportionate amount of time reviewing submissions, conducting early-stage screening calls, and managing the overhead of a high-volume pipeline – only to advance a small fraction of candidates. 

Time that should have been directed toward closing critical roles was spent on filtering through noise that the team did not have the bandwidth to manage. The longer those roles sat open, the more directly it affected Listen Labs’ ability to execute on its growth plans.

The Solution

Recruiting that runs itself

Listen Labs did not need to change how they hired. Contrario connected to Listen Labs' ATS, ensuring that candidate records, pipeline stages, and hiring decisions were synchronized without requiring manual input from the talent team. Outreach was handled on their behalf, interviews were scheduled automatically, and the right stakeholders were looped in at the right stage. There was no new platform to onboard or disruption to the processes the team had already built.

What mattered as much as the infrastructure was the speed of calibration. Contrario's recruiters on the partnership had deep expertise in go-to-market hiring. They understood from the outset what a strong candidate looks like at a Series B company with enterprise customers and aggressive growth targets. 

That calibration continued to sharpen over time. Every hiring decision Listen Labs made was fed back into Contrario's system, allowing agents on the platform to recalibrate continuously. The more decisions were made, the more precisely the candidate recommendations reflected Listen Labs' talent bar.

The impact

Leaner process with better results

The roles that had been difficult to fill were closed in under a month. By working directly within Listen Labs' existing workflows, the team spent 40% less time evaluating inbound candidates. Time that had previously been absorbed by screening and coordination was redirected toward higher-value work across the rest of the organization. 

When Listen Labs began working with Contrario, the company was approximately 40 people and has since grown to 60. The hires Contrario placed have been central to that growth.
